I'M EMILY 

I’m a former coffee and bar manager from Akron, Ohio, who has transformed my personal journey into a passion for empowering others to prioritize their health without sacrificing the joys of life. Currently residing in Highland Square with my partner, Elizabeth, and our three fur babies (Flip, Frankie, and Lily), I’m dedicated to creating a welcoming space for individuals seeking balance.

I’m no stranger to starting something new. Throughout my diverse experiences—as a violinist, gardener, mediocre sous chef, group education mentor, yoga teacher, and meditator—I’ve embraced my role as a lifelong learner. Curiosity drives me, and I’m committed to continually evolving in my understanding of wellness and personal growth.

Free Consultation

During your free consultation, I’ll take the time to better understand your goals and aspirations. I’ll assess your range of motion and conduct other assessments to gather valuable insights. I’ll provide you with helpful information tailored to your needs, and together, we’ll start crafting a personalized plan to help you achieve your health, fitness, and lifestyle goals.

Assess

During your first 2-4 weeks, we'll work together one-on-one to develop a functional diagnosis, establish success metrics, and create your personalized exercise plan.

Build

During this phase, we'll continue to work closely together to build your confidence and proficiency in four essential areas:

  1. Performing movements safely, effectively, and efficiently
  2. Understanding and interpreting exercise programs
  3. Enhancing lifestyle factors that directly influence achieving your goals
  4. Grasping the primary principles of Empowered Fitness and the fundamentals of recovery, capacity, and exercise

Balance

Once you've attained freedom of movement and no longer require one-on-one sessions, you have the option to continue with personalized sessions or transition to remote coaching. In remote sessions, you'll follow your customized program at your convenience, wherever you prefer. This phase includes regular mentorship meetings with me to track your progress, cover important educational topics, and make adjustments as necessary.

Once you've reached your initial goals and mastered the path to success, I believe you've earned the Freedom to chart your next journey. Whether it's maintaining your achievements or preparing to conquer Mount Everest, this phase empowers you to customize programs to suit your needs and reclaim your physical independence.

“A flare up of serious sciatic pain, the result of hypermobility, made even putting pants and socks on difficult. Physical therapy gave me a foundation for recovery, but I was afraid I might be limited for the rest of my life. I knew I needed to continue strengthening and luckily found Emily. After meeting with Emily, I was instantly impressed by how knowledgeable and helpful she was. I felt understood, even with my hypermobility. When we started, I was content simply to be active, but she has helped me to address my specific underlying limitations and move further in strength than I ever have. “The frustration I experienced before working with you was a constant, nagging presence of discomfort in the left shoulder at nearly all times.  I would be driving and note a 1-2 level pain in the shoulder at rest.  It did not matter whether I had worked it out recently or not.  I was unable to do certain ADL's - lift cereal down/up from a high shelf, put the laundry containers up, comb my hair without pain....  There was also a period of more intense pain and discomfort that really limited my ability to do my workouts and I felt like I was getting weaker by modifying everything or using lower weights. It was irritating. My experience with you was different because you used a very different approach.  Let's get the areas stronger and supporting muscles stronger and link the breathing with it all.  Let's use unique exercises to build strength and do more (and have fun).  Let's work on the exact positioning to get the most out of every move. I knew things were going to be effective when after my 2nd week we did an hour long workout of my upper body and I walked out with NO increase in pain whatsoever and we built on that from week to week.  At about week 9 or 10 I realized I was not having any rest pain.  I had lived with it so long that I was shocked to realize it was not there. I would highly recommend Emily to anyone looking for individualized training.  She was amazing.  She really worked with you to figure out what your goals were, what was working and wasn't.”
